Seller: oldtempter (1,166) 100%, Location: Lincoln, Ships to: GB, Item: 233491342471 An extremely rare 3/4 sized Georgian Oak Longcase Clock in good and original condition, by J Bunyan of Lincoln, dating to around 1790, and in full working order. I have photographed it next to a normal Longcase clock to give you an idea of the size, for clarification it is obviously the smaller of the two clocks, the larger clock is not included in this sale, but is for sale separately in my other items. The case is in Oak and in good original condition and patina; and is of good quality. The long shaped case door with a moulded edge and its brass hinges, and complete with its working lock and key. The base is of simple form, and the clock stands on its single plinth at only 71 inches in total height. This may have been made as an apprentice piece, or for special order, but I have only ever seen one other example like this, and that was many many years ago. As it is under 6 feet tall, this is perfect for where ceiling height is restricted like cottages or alcoves, but it is such a sweet little clock it could stand anywhere and be a real talking piece. The lovely hood with its shaped pediment; the glazed hood door with its original old wavy glass, and the door is flanked by free standing pillars with gilded capitals. The clock retains its original backboard. The period one painted dial is in lovely original condition, the chapter ring having hours represented by Roman Numerals, with an outer minute ring. The centre of the dial with the working seconds dial and calendar aperture below the twin winding holes, with the makers signature below the calendar. The dial is finished with a lovely well painted cottage scene to the arch, and "strawberry" corners; and its full set of steel hands. The 4 pillar rack and snail striking, good quality movement is in original condition and in working order, striking out the hours on a single bell. The clock is set up and keeping good time, however as with all antique clocks it would benefit from a clean and service at some time in the near future. The clock comes complete with it's pair of weights and pendulum, along with a winding key.Dimensions - 71 inches high Faults; Nothing really, maybe the odd tiny mark, just a sweet little longcase clock! Overall a lovely and very very rare 3/4 sized Georgian longcase clock of good quality, ready to go straight into your home. Delivery and personal "in house" set up can be arranged depending on distance, please email for details.I've no idea of the real value of this clock, there just isn't anything to compare it to, so I'll start it at a low price and let the market decide what its true value is.
