The 8 day twin fusee chain drive movement with anchor escapement striking the hours on a coiled gong and in perfect working order. The movement is in lovely clean condition. The "8" inch silvered dial is in very good order and reads "Greenhow" of Chelmsford. The brass bezel is cast with original thick bevelled glass. The side has a working lock for bezel and also a back door lock which both work of the same key. Amazing carved detail to the base and top and gilt brass spandrels to the front. It stands on brass feet which are later replacements. Nice carved side frets which give the clock a well balanced look. The very large and heavy pendulum is of the london type with outer regulation screw and has its pendulum holdfast. A large and impressive clock standing 20 inches high[51cm] x 13.5 ins wide[34cm] x just under 8 ins deep[20cm] . The bracket is 14 ins inner width and 7 ins high so fits perfectly. Comes complete with fusee key and as you can see by the photo's its in superb condition. It may originally have come out of a gentlemans club or civic building/courthouse.
