Item:183328150957High-Quality English Bracket Clock in excellent condition. Circa 1770 with ebonised bell top case with a finely engraved movement backplate signed “Richard Harper, SALOP” (Shropshire) an interesting and important area of past clockmaking in the UK. Eight-day duration with a five-pillared double fusee movement, verge escapement and rack striking on a bell with 'repeat' mechanism. The clock has a seven-inch brass dial with a silvered chapter ring, Roman numerals within a minute ring and Arabic outer fives with a subsidiary strike/silent chapter within the arch and a silvered date ring displayed through a square chamfered calendar aperture. The chapter ring also signed “Richard Harper". The case has a brass swinging carrying handle, and silk backed fretwork sound frets. Condition excellent. The movement restored and serviced.
