Item:232359817776Without doubt this is one of the best clocks i have ever had the pleasure of owning. A regency period mahogany "Balloon" bracket clock dating to C1820. Made by the prestigious "Desbois &Wheeler" grays inn passage london. If you google the name it will give you all the information much better than i can. The quality of the clock is second to none and in very original condition. The beautiful five pillar double fusee chain drive with full engraved back plate is top quality and has recently been cleaned and serviced and in full working order. Striking the hours on a bell and with wonderful long bob pendulum and hold fast lock. The 7 inch painted convex dial with original hands and strike/silent to the top of dial. Cast brass bezel with convex glass and original side lock and key. Beautiful fine frettwork to the back door and retaining original working lock and key. A large and imposing clock standing 23 inches high to top of original brass finial[59cm] x 9.5 ins wide at base[23cm] x 7 ins deep[18cm].Comes with i believe the original fusee winding key. The condition of the case is remarkable considering the age with only a couple of very tight shrinkage cracks to the sides that dont really even show up on the photo's. The case retains its original patina and polished finish which is superb and also the crossbanding is all intact with fabulous colour. All in all i think it would be hard to find a better example of this rare type of clock. Very few of these large balloon clocks come on the market and this is one of the best. Will be very well packed or i may be able to deliver and set up depending where you live or meet halfway. You are of course welcome to inspect the clock. Overseas interest please note it will be sent through the global shipping program. Please feel free to ask any questions.
