Seller: mrascotsbarleywine (499) 100%, Location: Bury, Ships to: GB, Item: 153872587363 Hello, I am a pensioner & fell out with my 1990 Granada so now that I’ve found a replacement vehicle & have enough to do here already (not those cars on my drive in one of the pics which belong to a friend!), I’m offering it for sale. I’m sure if someone does fancy my car we can work out a way to do the transaction safely for both of us & then I sincerely hope they get to enjoy the true potential that I genuinely believe there is in this car, I’m starting it at a ridiculously low price to try to encourage someone out there to take a gamble on it because I want rid of it while definitely not wanting this bug, if it goes I will be able to self-isolate with a bit of dosh in my pocket! At the start of last year, I began looking for a decent low mileage 2.9 Granada, I covered many miles & looked at several but they’d either been tarted up to sell or were knackered or overpriced. Finally, in the April I saw an advert for this example & it sounded promising; the paint looked a bit grotty especially on the bonnet & roof but it appeared pretty rust free & at nearly 30 years old it still had only had 106,075 miles on the clock. While the seller didn’t answer all of my questions he assured me it ran well & hadn’t been “messed about with” & there were loads of receipts for work done over the years (there are) & it would be very easy to make a very good example so at seven hundred quid plus a hundred to get it to mine it seemed well worth the gamble, it probably now stands me at double that! After getting it transported to here, I found it wouldn’t even start, the mileage has been the same since 2013 & when I got the V5 I found it had 10, (TEN aarrrggghh!) previous owners! I also discovered the main key only worked the ignition & passenger door with a diddy key for the petrol flap & none that worked the hatchback or driver’s door! I got it transported to a garage & they dropped the tow bar (it is re-fitted but the wires needs re-joining) & tank to fit a new petrol pump plus filter, fitted a complete new exhaust bar the driver’s side downpipe, sorted out the brakes & did an oil & filter change etc & after two months & much work it earned itself a new MOT! Over the next few months I reset the tappets, fitted a new ISCV, cleaned the maf sensor, gave it another oil change (adding a couple of cans Ametech, not cheap but brilliant stuff), got a new battery fitted, got a spare key cut so I could post it off to the guy on here who builds up Ford locks to suit but then just before Christmas the hatch wouldn’t unlock via the central locking & then it decided it wanted to be a three speed auto! I Googled it & it seems quite a common problem with these cars & likely just the speed sensor, I ordered a replacement but when a mobile mechanic came it turned out to be the wrong type & while he did say the wires that go to the sensor were crusty so likely that is all the problem is I’d simply had enough! The car is the non-airbag pre-cat model, it invariably has to churn over a few times before it starts, then it coughs & splutters for half a minute but once warmed up it is fine being really comfy & pleasant to drive & looks reasonably smart too. The temp gauge doesn’t work (another sensor & is that why it doesn’t like starting from cold?), the speedo usually works immediately but is sometimes a tad lazy, there’s a bit of rust under the bonnet on the nearside front wing (I made a plate to replace the damaged area & it’s in the boot), the hatchback itself also has a strip of rust, apart from that the car is sound & rust free. The headlining is a bit grotty, leather interior is pretty good overall, the bonnet and roof could ideally do with flatting down and respraying as the bonnet in particular is a bit "milky" but hey ho it is what it is, the windows & sun roof work & it has never ever broken down on me, even with only three speeds I’d trust it to take me anywhere, the MOT is till the middle of July, it is still taxed but I’ll put it on a SORN end of the month if it doesn’t sell. Please no one mess me about on this, I am a genuine fella and not interested in an exchange and no tyre kickers and definitely no insultingly low offers, it is priced to sell so if you want one even a little bit better you'll have to pay 2K plus! I am going to advertise the car elsewhere so reserve the right to end the auction early, I’d prefer cash on collection please & pick up is from BL8. Any questions please message me on here or phone 07410 989046 when they will all be answered fully and truthfully. So, try to keep being positive in these bleak times, in fact take the plunge & buy this car then isolate yourself while you’re sorting it out!
