Be sure to have a look at our other items! This is an outstanding find of a mostly intact, old, torsion anniversary clock that was created about 70 years ago in what was then, St Georgen "West Germany" by "Kieninger and Obergfell," and marketed under their line of high quality "Kundo" clocks. I remember my father brought home an anniversary clock very similar to this one right after WWII. I used to watch it rotate back and forth and was always fascinated to see it in action. And I always got the privilege of winding the clock every year which made it even more special. This clock reminds me so much of those days and it’s of the highest quality as well. The clock is made of brass metal. The base outside the glass dome has a nice patina going for it and the inside protected area is still very shiny. There are two shiny brass spiral pillars supporting the clock mechanism and each has a shiny brass finial on the top. The top of the dial has a shiny brasstone metal crown with three shiny bass tapered finials on the top. There is a four ball shiny brass metal pendulum that is suspended from the movement by a thin wire. It's all there except the bottom connecter. The round metal dial has a metal brass bezel surrounding it and a fancy enamel center with a decorative rose motif; very nice! The dial has a soft almond backdrop and features easy to read, fancy numerals to mark the hours and matching metal hands to point out the time. The hands are the old style that are pinned to the escapement, not screwed on. The name, "Kundo" appears in their familiar calligraphic signature logo on the dial just above center. The phrase, "Made in Germany" appears in very small block letters at the bottom of the dial. The clock is fitted with a key wind, mechanical movement that lasts for about a year on a single wind which explains in part why it’s referred to as an anniversary clock. The back is embossed with the "Kieninger und Obergfell" name and "West Germany." There are three adjustable levelers underneath that are used to level the clock. I set the clock up, wound it with the key, and that's about as far as I got. I do know that it does wind just fine and the suspension wire and hardware is intact except for the connecting block to the pendulum itself which is a relatively easy find. Keep in mind that even though it looks fairly new, it is an old clock and we don't know the service history so there will be some adjustments or service needed once the clock arrives at its new home. We always advise our clock customers to service their antique or vintage clocks at least once every three years. Doing so will preserve a classic clock like this one and keep it healthy for years to come. The clock comes complete as shown with the glass dome cover, and the winding key. I’ve looked the clock over fairly well and can’t find any old repairs. I did find that the glass dome has a significant crack in it. I can ship it with the clock if you wish or credit $10 off the shipping costs if you don't want the dome. Regardless, the clock is in remarkable condition and is absolutely gorgeous on display! It's an impressive size too measuring about 12" high with the dome in place and about 8" across the base. This clock would be the focal point in any collection and is certain to impress anyone seeing it in your home, office or wherever it is that you care to showcase a magnificent German timepiece with a solid history behind it. Have it repaired, repair it yourself, or leave it the way it is. Regardless, bid with absolute confidence; I know you’ll love this clock!
