Seller: graham3943 (1,194) 100%, Location: Thames Ditton (nr. Hampton Court), Surrey, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 362772660523 I AM RETIRED AND HAVE HAD PROFESSIONAL HOROLOGICAL TRAINING. I RESTORE ANTIQUE/VINTAGE CLOCKS IN MY SPARE TIME. I SPECIALISE IN CARRIAGE CLOCKS TOP QUALITY ANTIQUE FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK IN AMAZING ORIGINAL CONDITION. IT WAS MANUFACTURED C 1890 BY COUAILLET FRERES. I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED COMPLETELY OVERHAULING AND SERVICING IT EARLIER THIS MONTH. IT IS RARE INDEED TO FIND A CLOCK IN AS GOOD CONDITION AS THIS - IT IS SOMETHING OF A COLLECTOR'S ITEM. Height (with handle folded down) 5 inches (12.5 cms); Width 3 inches (7.5 cms); Depth 2 1/2 inches (6 cms). MOVEMENT: 8-day timepiece with a new Swiss lever escapement which works well with good amplitude. It is an unusually high quality movement numbered 137 inside both plates and bearing the Couaillet Freres trademark arrow on the back plate. All the back plate screws have been nicely "blued" and the back plate cocks are all pinned in place. The movement was dirty and working sluggishly when I acquired the clock, so I dismantled it completely and checked all parts carefully for wear (none found). I then hand-polished the pivots, pegged out the sinks and finally, after polishing the parts and rebuilding it, I oiled it back and front with appropriate grade clock oil. The movement is now in showroom condition!CASE: Solid cast brass case in excellent overall condition. It has unusual "chain link" inlayed friezes to the top and bottom and the solid brass folding handle is of unusual design. It sits on four small turned brass feet (to which I have stuck small felt pads to protect surfaces). All parts are stamped with the number 36 which shows that it is all entirely original. It was badly tarnished when I got it so I dismantled it and then cleaned and hand-polished the parts before giving them a coat of special micro-crystalline wax polish to preserve the lovely patina the whole case now has. The rear glazed door opens and closes with satisfying precision and is a beautiful fit - a good sign for obvious reasons!DIAL: The white enamel-on-copper dial is original and in good condition. There is a surface chip to the enamel in the top left corner. I debated whether or not to fill it but decided that any remedial work would show much more than the chip does! As it is, the blemish is hardly noticeable and is largely covered by the case: it had to be mentioned. The bold roman numerals and chapter ring are crystal clear. Each five minute interval is highlighted discreetly in gold. The delicate polished blued-steel hands are original and are in perfect condition.GLASSES: It's not often one can say this but, all five thick bevelled glasses are original and in perfect condition. KEY: The clock comes with a new double-ended brass key. The large end is for winding the eight-day movement and the other end is for adjusting the hands.INSTRUCTIONS: I will enclose with the clock some simple instructions about how to get it going if it has stopped whilst in the post. I will also provide my contact details so you can get in touch with me about care/maintenance etc. THIS LITTLE CLOCK IS ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE COME ACROSS IN MY YEARS WORKING WITH ANTIQUE CARRIAGE CLOCKS. IT'S IN SUPERB CONDITION! The clock is rather heavy hence the relatively high packaging and postage charge. UK £10.00; EU £20.00 (approx. 25 Euros); Elsewhere £30.00 I pack well, post promptly after payment (tracked and insured), and keep purchasers informed at all stages of the transaction. I would ask you please to read my 100% positive feedback on eBay - a record I am proud of and intend to maintain. That is your guarantee. Thank you very much for looking and good luck if you decide to bid. Condition: This clock is in unusually good original condition. It was made in France in about 1890. I completely dismantled the movement to check it for wear then cleaned polished and oiled it. (It now works perfectly). I also cleaned and polished the case finishing it off with a special wax polish to protect the antique brass finish. The dial has a superficial chip to the enamel in one corner which is barely visible and does not show in the pictures. The case, movement and glasses are faultless .It is fitted with a new Swiss 7 jewelled lever escapement and so keeps good time. The key is new. Altogether, an amazing find!., Age: Antique, Pre-1900, Material: Brass, Type: Mantel/ Carriage Clock, Features: Pendulum// Moving Parts, Sub-Type: Carriage Clock, Clock Type: Mantel/ Carriage Clock, Style/ Origin/ Theme: French
