Item:223331330243Family heirloom Gustav Becker presentation bracket clock c.1910. Westminster chime, chimes on 1/4 and 1/2 hour, and strikes the hour. (Can be silenced if required). Kept serviced regularly by me after inheriting it from my late father in 2001, who in turn inherited it from his great uncle, the original recipient of the clock when new. I have just had it serviced again, but it has developed the annoying habit of stopping at 7 minutes past 12 every so often ! It's one of those things which could easily be rectified by a person with the appropriate expertise, but that person is not me. It can only be a minor adjustment, as it does not happen every time, and works in the clock repairer's workshop for 8 days plus, but not always necessarily after I get it home ! It works perfectly between blips, and has a lovely tick.My Dad's great uncle, Chief Steward on sailing then steam ships, was presented with the clock in 1910 by the staff of Royal Mail Steam Ship "Asturias", built 1908, became a hospital ship in 1914, sunk by German U-boat in 1917, but raised and refitted and renamed "Arcadian" to serve again as a cruise liner until 1933.Buyer collects. Too fragile to post.A donation of proceeds will be made to SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, and Air Force Association).Age:Antique, Post-1900, Type:Bracket Clock, Material:Oak, Clock Type:Bracket Clock, Features:8-Day
