Seller: priscus-collectables (2,726) 100%, Location: Banbridge, Down, Ships to: GB, IE, Item: 132498305737 BID EARLY TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT & CHECK WHEN THIS ITEM ENDS - THANKS FOR LOOKING!Japy Freres & PH Mourey Paris - French Gilt-metal Mantel Clock with Sevres panelsI am looking to sell a very nice antique French gilt metal clock with its original old gold colour and patina. This clock is stamped ‘’PH Mourey 63’’ to the back for Phillipe Mourey (1840-1910) who was a master French sculptor. The clock also has hand painted Sevres (or similar) porcelain panels as photographed. The movement is stamped Japy Freres et Cie who were French clockmakers, originally set up in circa 1771 in Beaucourt by Frederic Japy (1749-1812) for the purpose of making ebauches (blanks) for watch movements. However, by 1809 the business was also producing clock movement blanks. By 1810, Frederic Japy's sons Frederic-Guillaume Japy, Louis-Frederic Japy and Jean-Pierre Japy had joined the firm. Soon after the death of of their father in 1812, the sons renamed the firm Japy Freres et Cie, this being one of their clocks.Movement also ahs the numbers 1303 and 4 D 6 stamped into it.The clock is being sold a s a project for someone out there, unfortunately the finial has come off and a piece of gilded metal moulding to the right hand side has also broken off, but both pieces are still present as shown in my photos. The tip of another piece draping across the top of the dial also has been broken off and is glued back in place. Clock has no pendulum and I have not tried to get it running, so it is being sold as a non runner, although the movement looks clean on it, it may well start ticking after being wound up. Porcelain panels have some wear to the gilding, but look free of cracks. Someone has also had the back of the clock engraved as photographed, this cannot be seen from the front. It is a very nice looking clock that would make a nice restoration project for someone out there.PLEASE NOTE that I am selling it as in need a service (or repair) as I am not an expert in clocks. Dimensions:The clock measures 11 ½” high not including finial, 13 ¼” high with finial sitting on top, 11 ½” wide (bottom edge to edge) It weighs approx. 3.6Kg unpacked. Please observe all photos before bidding and ask any questions you may have.I have included a number of photos and these probably describe the item better than I can and form part of the description.
