The arched hood with canted front corners over an elaborately moulded throat to a shaped trunk on a tall base, the 4.75 inch one-piece silvered arched dial acting as the frontplate of the movement and engraved with a running seconds dial above the minutes-elapsed dial, both with good blued steel hands, the weight driven movement of 8 hour duration with arched plates united by six turned pillars pinned to the backplate, the three-wheel train with brass pinions and terminating in a deadbeat escapement, the escape wheel mounted to one side with a shaped block of brass to counterpoise the seconds hand and to the other side with a pin to activate the passing strike on the bell above every 60 seconds, the bell mounted on a shaped brass stand mounted to the rear of the backplate, the latter shaped to accommodate the profile of the bell . It is 5 ft 8 inches tall , 15 1/2 inches tall at the base and 7 inches deep.
