Seller: clerk_ofcourse (1,332) 100%, Location: THAMES ESTUARY, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 202400387388 This Arts and Crafts or Aesthetic Movement clock was discovered at the same property as the Smiths clock also listed yet they could not be more different, apart from both being scarcities. Only rarely do I offer clocks for sale which are not in perfect working order as I believe that if you want a clock, you want it to work ! However this clock is such a rare find that someone with the time and patience will be able to return this to it's best and probably earn a small fortune. The clock measures 19"x 11.5"x 7.5" and has an 8 day Samuel Marti gong striking movement. The movement does run and keep good time, however the hammer has become detached with a replacement being found inside the clock case but not yet fitted. Clearly the value of this clock lies in the fact that the ebonized case fitted with several wonderful tiles and the most magnificent dial (all undamaged) by Lewis Foreman Day. This is confirmed on an old repair receipt also found with the clock. Obviously the clock was treasured at some point but now has a few minor problems listed below. Hammer is detachedFront door does not close tightlyA blemish to the bevelled clock glass at 8 o clockOne lower frieze finial re attached but not expertlyMovement will benefit from cleaning and a service but is running and keeping good time So nothing too serious and probably outweighed by the fact that the clock has 8 Lewis Day tiles all perfect in addition to the magnificent dial with typical Day Arabic numerals. The ebonized case has Japanese style embellishments to the top corners which compliment the stylized floral tiles. Will you ever find another clock like this, certainly not for much under four figures ! As an unexpected discovery this can be offered at a bargain price, spend a little time and use your skill and knowledge to own a fine rare clock. This will be my final listing of this clock prior to my annual holiday and will then be entered at my local auction, should someone fail to recognise the potential this time around. Condition: In working order but hammer is detached (replacement included). The clock will require servicing but does run. The case just needs tidying and all inset and dial tiles are in good condition., Age: Antique, Pre-1900, Material: Ebonised case with inset ceramic tiles, Type: Bracket Clock, Features: 8-Day, Clock Type: Bracket Clock, Style/ Origin/ Theme: Aesthetic / Arts & Crafts Movement
