These kefir 'grains' are very healthy and active and are fed with whole organic milk every day.
You will receive 1 teaspoon (5 grams weighed) of kefir grains. This will easily ferment 250ml (1/2 pint) of milk. You will find the grains quickly multiply so you can ferment larger volumes of kefir if you wish.
Kefir is very easy to ferment: simply place the grains in whole milk, cover loosely and leave out of direct sunlight in a warm room for 24 hours or more, depending on temperature. If you leave it too long it can separate into curds and whey and also becomes more tart/sour. You can use non organic milk, whole or semi skimmed.
If you wish to make kefir from non dairy milk, ie coconut milk, rice milk etc .....
You Do Not need SPECIAL kefir grains as some sellers tell you.
Tip: If you use non dairy milk, you will need to refresh the grains in dairy milk every few ferments to keep the grains strong and healthy as they feed off the lactose in dairy milk.
Kefir is full of probiotics, which means that it contains plenty of “good” bacteria and yeasts that are necessary for the health of the gut and it's nourishing to the digestive system. Kefir helps give an immunity boost, and it's also high in protein.
It's good for your intestines, which leads to the decreasing of ailments like bloating, and is unlike most other dairy products because it is easily digestible. It contains very little sugar (lactose), especially if you let it ferment for a longer period. The proteins in the milk are also broken down, and are virtually in a pre-digested state.
Kefir grains vary in size from very small up to the size of a small egg and are also known as Tibetan Mushroom.
You can enjoy kefir on its own, or combine it with fruit or muesli, or add it to a smoothie. If, like a lot of people, you have a damaged digestive system, a glass of kefir is a magic soothing and healing product. You may find that during the hours after drinking it, your stomach feels settled and stable.
Kefir is also known to have anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. It is effective in the prevention and treatment of digestive disorders – in particular diarrhoea and irritable bowel syndrome. It is also good to ease constipation.
Fermenting your own kefir is far superior to supermarket bought kefir which has likely been pasteurized and may have unwanted additives.
Kefir is particularly good for the gut and the immune system, but it also helps to keep bones healthy due to the calcium and vitamin K2.
Kefir will benefit the body by: Boosting immunity
Healing inflammatory bowel disease
Improving lactose digestion
Working to kill candida
Helping to build bone density
Helping to fight allergies
Supporting detoxification
Kefir has many reputed health benefits and may be the strongest natural remedy against any allergy and the strongest natural antibiotic without side effects.
