Seller: reggieandhenry (316) 100%, Location: Mitcham, Ships to: GB & many other countries, Item: 113813320004 Superb antique French brass cased Japy Freres bell striking ornate clock in excellent working order keeping good time and striking correctly on the nickel bell. The brass case is formed in multiple pieces bolted together, the case is adorned with scrolls, floral motifs, cherubs and topped with a pierced brass urn finial, a delightful sight. The brass dial has individual cartouche displaying black Roman numerals the dial is finished with moon hands. The front and back glazed doors both have very thick bevelled glass windows the front door is very slightly loose on its hinge and requires a very slight lift to close, but secure, a new pin may cure this tiny problem. there is the residue of a 100 years of brass polish in the grooves of the features on the case, I am sure these could be removed if you are persistent, but I believe it adds to the history of this piece. The clock movement is stamped GR as is the rear door surround. I assume this is the retailer initials.I estimate this clock is from the 1880s so is a genuine antique, well over the 100 years antique status. I have only lubricated the pivots with the correct grade oil although I am sure the clock movement would benefit from a service and clean, This clock as with all pendulum clocks, will also require "setting up" after transit. This clock will be supplied with a winding key and the clock pendulum. This clock is 39 cm high x 20 cm wide x 11 cm deep and obviously very heavy.Collect or post
