This is known as the best colonial period geological map of Australia. The map has a colour index to the lower left quadrant.

This rare map is from the 'Picturesque Atlas of Australasia', which was the most ambitious publishing venture in Australian history. The publishers used the best artists, the best paper, the finest printing and engraving techniques. Their aim was to be the best and most comprehensive survey of Australia's colonial history.

Unfortunately their desire for 100% perfection led to escalating production costs and they were forced out of business (for being too good)

Impressive size 370 x 607 mm

The map is in excellent condition 370 x 607 mm, plus wide margins. My photograph does not do this map justice, as the colours are fresh and vibrant, which alas, I have not managed to capture. 128 years old
