This is a pair of Japanese porcelain figures from the Meiji Period, late 19th century. The figures portray a wise old man with a can and a young boy. The man is marked with 'Japan' on the base, dating it circa 1890.
The man stands at 9.5cm in height, both appear in good condition although the boy may have been attached to a base at one point. A fantastic pair for any collection.
