As per Royal Mail guidelines, the cut-off for second class Christmas delivery is 18 December but there is no guarantee your item will arrive in time.

These coins have been popular amongst long-standing collectors and budding coin enthusiasts alike and of course make an excellent gift for all ages. 

Following the confirmation that London had been selected as a host city for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Royal Mint held a competition whereby members of the public submitted designs for a range of 50p coins which would commemorate the Games. A total of 29 winning designs were selected, from nearly 30,000 entries, to make up a collection of coins which feature many well-known Olympic and Paralympic sports. 

The coins were minted with date '2011,' but released into circulation in October 2010, to allow collectors time to attempt to acquire a complete set in the build up to the Opening Ceremony in July 2012. However, at the time exact mintage figures were unknown but it became clear that some designs were indeed rarer than others. 

The rarest of the 29 coins is the Football design which depicts the offside rule, only 1.125 million were minted, which makes it the second rarest circulated 50p coin after the famous 2009 Kew Gardens.  Wrestling , Judo and Triathlon all have mintage figures at less than 1.2 million making them highly valuable and sought after. 

It is estimated that,11 years after their initial  release, around three quarters of all 2011 Olympic 50p coins have been removed from circulation, far exceeding the expectations of industry experts at the time and setting an unprecedented spike in private coin collecting. The coins have become an unofficial   souvenir  of the Games .
