A classic London 11" brass dial with brass gilded spandrels and silvered chapter ring.The engraving is deep and of high quality.I have seen other Edward Smith dials engraved with London rather than Richmond.5 pillared high quality plated movement striking on bell with a clear tone. The movement has been fully serviced and cleaned in last 5 years and new gut lines fitted to barrels.The date feature is working as it should.The period oak case is in excellent condition commensurate to its age. It has been polished and retains its patina obtained over 250 years.Working period lock and key to long door.Kite shaped bone inlay escutcheon. The case retains its plinth which is designed as intended to allow the clock to lean back onto wall which is a nice period feature. Back board and movement seat board are of elm.
