This very unusual pyramid shaped Lorna Bailey 'Westport' large hand painted sugar shaker/sifter measures approximately 13.5cm (5.25") high x 8cm (3") wide. It was part of a Westport pottery series of designs named after an area of the Potteries with a large lake situated close to Burslem and was produced for a short period of time in September 2002. The design is on opposing faces and Lorna's signature, the 'Westport' title and the Old Ellgreave Pottery logo are present under the glaze to the body. This sifter is in perfect, as new bright and clean condition with no chips, cracks or damage and has been carefully stored in bubble wrap over the years and has never been on display. As with all Lorna Bailey sugar shakers it was never supplied with a stopper and was never issued with a box.
From a private collection in a non-smoking home and will be very well wrapped and boxed for the journey.
I will be selling many other Lorna Bailey ceramics over the next few months and will always try to combine postage on multiple purchases.

Lorna Bailey's artistic career began when she joined her father's business, LJB Ceramics as a painter at the original Old Ellgreave Pottery in Stoke-on-Trent. At the same time Lorna began designing a series of cottage, tree and abstract patterns based on the pottery of Clarice Cliff. In 1995 at the age of seventeen her House and Path and Sunburst patterns were put into full production. A collectors club was formed in September 1998 and in 2003 LJB Ceramics changed its name to Lorna Bailey Artware. In January 2008 Lorna retired from the pottery industry to concentrate on her family life.
