Seller: boilyhead (1,170) 100%, Location: wilts, Ships to: Americas, Europe, Asia, AU, Item: 232812827242 For auction is a fine quality solid mahogany bracket clock by "Smith & Son" Clerkenwell London and dating to the late 19c around 1880/1900. The 8 day twin fusee movement on chains is a little unusual in that apart from striking the hours on a gong it also has a passing strike on a bell on the half hours. It is a fine quality movement, very substantial and has five pillars and is in full working order and has its London style pendulum and pendulum hold fast. The beautiful silvered engraved dial with raised gilt arabic numerals and subsidiary dials for fast and slow regulation and strike silent so you can switch the chimes off at night. A wonderful solid mahogany case with twin front pillars and capitals with great colour and patina. The side frets are complete with just a couple of small breaks to the frets cut secure and all have the original red silk backing. The back door fret has a small piece missing. Standing 20.5 inches high[52cm] x 17.5 ins wide[44cm] x 9 ins deep[23cm]. The whole clock is in excellent original condition and has wear and marks associated with age and use but as the photo's show its an impressive looking clock. It may have been a boardroom or directors clock or could have been in a gentleman's club. Selling with 0.99p start and no reserve and auction will run its course. It is a large and heavy clock so I will take out the movement and pack separately for shipping or you are welcome to pick up. I may be able to deliver for a price in the uk but email for quote or I could meet half way. Feel free to ask any questions or for a friendly chat call 01225 863706 H or 07512431858 M.
