DESCRIPTION

Designed and manufactured in the UK, the Arthro-Eze splint is a simple elegant design. If you suffer from arthritis or have experienced a minor finger injury or condition, the Arthro-Eze splint product can be worn in different ways on your fingers to help treat a variety of common conditions; like Finger Arthritis, Mallet finger, controlling Swan Neck, Boutonniere deformity, Hypermobility, Trigger Finger and protecting fractures or jammed fingers.

Finger Arthritis is a disease that causes joint pain, stiffness, and swelling. The pain may be worse in the morning, be warm to the touch and you may have trouble moving your joints.

Mallet Finger is when the end joint of your finger closest to your fingernail, bends but will not straighten by itself. You can push your finger into a straight position, but it will not stay straight without support.

Finger Hypermobility (EDS) is a rare genetic disorder of connective tissue that causes unusually flexible joints, very elastic skin, and fragile tissues. Symptoms of Hypermobile EDS include loose, unstable joints that move well beyond the normal range and have long-term joint pain.

Crooked Finger describes the way your finger is bent or looks – the finger bends away from the rest of your fingers and is no longer straight. The tendons and ligaments that usually straighten the finger joint bend it away instead.

Finger Swan Neck deformity is a finger condition characterised by the middle knuckle bending backwards beyond the normal range (hyperextending) and the fingertip bending down towards the palm (flexing).

Finger Boutonniere deformity describes the way your finger is bent – the middle joint bends down and will not straighten while the fingertip bends back at the end joint. The tendons and ligaments that usually straighten the middle finger joint bend it down instead.

Trigger Finger happens when your finger locks or clicks when it is bent and then suddenly pops back when trying to straighten it. “Triggering” commonly occurs at night or with activities that require repeated gripping or pinching, such as holding a pen.

KEY FEATURES & SPLINT SIZING

Arthro-Eze splints can help your finger recover, aid healing, and reduce pain caused by swelling by immobilising and supporting the finger. Arthro-Eze splints also improve finger stability and alignment for better hand function and are light, comfortable, they are also hardly noticeable to the wearer. Made from biocompatible material so they will not irritate your skin, no messy tape or straps are required so they can be worn in water without removing the splints. They may also aid in preventing the progression of deformity and multiple splints can be worn without limiting hand function.

They are currently available in Peach, Clear, Amber Clear variants in 32 different sizes to ensure a comfortable fit and our new Amber clear splint blends in with any skin tone. Please visit our shop via the home button at the top of the page to see all variants and buying options.

When determining splint size we recommend you follow our step by step guide detailed in the next tab using a strip of paper (SIZING INSTRUCTIONS).

FINGER OR THUMB SPLINT SIZE GUIDE

The part of the finger or thumb that you need to measure will depend on the joint area you would like the splint to immobilise and provide support, you will need to accurately measure the circumference of this joint.

To do this you will need to complete 6 easy to follow steps below. You will need a pen, paper, scissors, ruler or measuring device.

1. Identify the joint area that requires immobilisation and support; on the thumb it is the IP joint and on a finger, it is either the PIP or DIP joint.

2.Cut out a strip of paper similar to the image below and wrap it around the IP, PIP, or DIP joint area that needs to be measured.

3. Position the strip of paper around the identified joint at its widest point until it fits comfortably; making sure that it is not too tight that it would cause further pain or too slack that it feels like it would slip off. For Trigger finger, or other conditions in the middle of the finger, the paper strip needs to be centred on the PIP joint. For Mallet finger, or other distal finger conditions, the paper strip needs to be centred on the DIP joint. For thumb conditions it needs to be positioned on the IP joint.

4.Mark the piece of paper with a pen at the point it makes a complete circumference measurement of your identified joint, so when you unwrap the piece of paper you have two marks.

5.Straighten out the strip of paper that you used to measure your identified joint and use a ruler or measuring device to measure between the two marks that you made.

6. Consult the splint size table below to identify your required splint size by looking for your measurement next to the corresponding splint size. You will then be able to order the required splint in the drop-down menu in the relevant product listing.

Who Can Use the Arthro-Eze splints?

Arthro-Eze splints are ideal for virtually anybody looking to support a thumb joint, deformity, or injury. Please note that Arthro-Eze splints are not recommended or suitable for children under the age of 4 as they may cause a possible choking hazard.

Can I Use Padding with Arthro-Eze splints?

If you find that your splint is uncomfortable or a little loose, padding it can help to improve this.
