Founded in 1841 by John Maple, Maple & Co were one of the largest and most successful antique furniture retailers and manufacturers in England during the latter half of the 19th Century and early 20th Century. Their clientele included Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, members of the Royal Household, the King of Siam, and Tsar Nicholas II of Russia whilst catalogues proudly announced them as “Suppliers of Her Majesty the Queen of England”. We describe any flaws in the items that fall outside of this bracket but cannot describe each of these marks separately. If anything, we tend to be over critical of items but if you are not sure please do not buy without clarifying or take the view that the only way to have it absolutely perfect is to have it fully and comprehensively restored.
