Seller: john-nugent (805) 100%, Location: Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, Ships to: GB, Item: 153674432332 A pivoted fusee detent escapement is rare enough in watches but to find one in a mantel time-piece is mega rare.Hope the guy who made the case many years ago isn't reading this but there's not much effort gone into the finish or choice of much nicer woods to be had.Saying that, it keeps the dust out. There's a stream of empty clock cases listed on e-bay if you don't fancy making a nice case. The movement it-self is very robust, practical and easy to service.Even a broken detent spring would hold no fears as it's the size and strength of your average wrist-watch main-spring.A good strong and regular tick keeping very good time.Winds nice and smoothly and has maintaining power which means the clock doesn't stop as you give it it's weekly wind.It does have its original fancy iron mounting brackets and I'm quite sure all hands are original.45 cm high X 25 cm wide and 15 cm deep...Weighs about 16 kilos...Comes with its lightly rusted crank key. Parcel will be close to 20 kilos.Sent by carrier with tracking will be £20.On 10-Oct-19 at 10:30:39 BST, seller added the following information: A kind e-bayer who has had a few of these clocks over the years has given me the following information. One thousand of these clocks were made around 1890..They were made by "Dent" of London. They were signed on the dial in ink which quickly faded away and would disappear all together with the lightest of wipes with a duster. The clock runs for eight days on a full wind. Many of these clocks were converted to skeleton clocks. He also tells me that he has an original oak case left over from a skeleton conversion. His contact information will be passed to the winning bidder if requested..thanks for looking.
