Neilmed Sinus Rinse Nasal Saline120 Premixed Sachets-Clears Your Nasal Cavities

Description: The NeilMed Sinus Rinse is a soothing saline nasal rinse that clears your nasal cavities to provide relief from sinusitis. The rinse is pH-balanced and is presented in a large volume with low-pressure ratio. Helps manage the symptoms of caused by sinus and allergy conditions.  As a legal requirement, we must determine the medicine we supply to you is appropriate for your personal use. When purchasing any medicinal product, you are agreeing to use the medicine as per the manufacturer’s patient information leaflet. You also agree to follow any important advice in the listing and answer any questions if contacted via phone by our pharmacy team.

How to use the product: Step 1 : Please wash your hands. Fill the clean bottle with the designated volume of distilled, microfiltered (through 0.2 micron filter), reverse osmosis filtered, commercially bottled, or previously boiled and cooled down water. *You may warm the water in a microwave in increments of 5 to 10 seconds to avoid overheating the water, damaging the device or scalding your nasal passage.  Step 2 : Cut the Sinus Rinse™ mixture packet at the corner and pour its contents into the bottle. Tighten the cap and tube on the bottle securely. Place one finger over the tip of the cap and shake the bottle gently to dissolve the mixture. Always rinse your nasal passages with NeilMed® SINUS RINSE® packets only.  Step 3 : Standing in front of a sink, bend forward to your comfort level and tilt your head down. Keeping your mouth open, without holding your breath, place the cap snugly against your nasal passage. SQUEEZE BOTTLE GENTLY until the solution starts draining from the OPPOSITE nasal passage. Some may drain from your mouth. For a proper rinse, keep squeezing the bottle GENTLY until at least 1/4 to 1/2 (60 mL to 120 mL or 2 to 4 fl oz) of the bottle is used. Do not swallow the solution.  Step 4 : Blow your nose very gently, without pinching nose completely to avoid pressure on eardrums. If tolerable, sniff in gently any residual solution remaining in the nasal passage once or twice, because this may clean out the posterior nasopharyngeal area, which is the area at the back of your nasal passage. At times, some solution will reach the back of your throat, so please spit it out. To help drain any residual solution, blow your nose gently while tilting your head forward and to the opposite side of the nasal passage you just rinsed.  Step 5 : Now repeat steps 3 and 4 for your other nasal passage. Most users fi nd that rinsing twice a day is benefi cial, similar to brushing your teeth. Many doctors recommend rinsing 3-4 times daily or for special circumstances, even rinsing up to 6 times a day is safe. Please follow your physician's advice.  Step 6 : Clean the bottle and cap. Air dry the Sinus Rinse™ bottle, cap, and tube on a clean paper towel, a lint free towel, or use NeilMed® NasaDOCK® or NasaDOCK plus™ (sold separately) to store the bottle, cap and tube.

Ingredients: Active Ingredients : Mixture of USP grade sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate.

Side effects: Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction:  hives;  difficult breathing;  swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.  Less serious side effects may be more likely, and you may have none at all.  When done correctly, sinus rinsing is safe and effective for most people.  However, side effects can sometimes occur.  Common side effects : The side effects from nasal rinsing are typically minor and temporary, resolving within a few hours to a day.  They include:  burning or stinging sensation in the nose slight nasal irritation . Some people may get a slight nosebleed when they use a neti pot or other nasal rinsing device.  This is usually caused by overuse of the device, because this dries out the nasal passages.  Serious side effects : Serious side effects can occur when nasal rinsing is done too often or if unsafe water is used.  Nasal rinsing can be done with water, that is: distilled sterile filtered boiled for 3 to 5 minutes, then cooled to room temperature . If you’re boiling water to sterilize it, make sure it’s sufficiently cooled before introducing it into your nostril.  If the water is too hot, it can cause internal burning and blistering to occur.  Saline solution is also sterile and can be used for sinus rinsing as well.  You can reintroduce bacteria into your sinuses if you use a neti pot or bulb syringe that isn’t sufficiently cleaned between uses.  Make sure to follow package directions for cleaning exactly.  And to avoid passing germs to others, don’t share your nasal irrigation device with anyone else.  Nasal rinsing should only be done when you’re congested and have a stuffy nose. When you’re sick, your sinuses fill with thick mucus.  Nasal rinsing is effective at thinning and removing excess mucus.  This alleviates congestion, making you more comfortable.  However, overuse or long-term use can be unsafe.  That’s because your sinuses always need a protective lining of good mucus.  This lining is sticky, so it can trap irritants and germs that enter your nostrils.  It also contains proteins that kill bacteria before they can enter your lungs.  Removal of the mucus lining leaves you vulnerable to illnesses such as sinus infections.  While rare, nasal rinsing can cause serious infections or become life threatening when unsterilized water, including tap water, is used.  Tap water is safe for you to drink and wash with.  However, it can contain lots of microscopic organisms, including amoebas, that can cause serious or life threatening infections in nasal passages.  If you drink tap water, the acid in your stomach kills these organisms.  Since there’s no acid in your sinuses, these organisms are able to grow and thrive there.  They may also travel into the brain. Once in the brain, primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (amoebic meningitis) can occur.  This potentially life threatening condition is caused by Naegleria fowleri, a single-celled amoeba.  Naegleria fowleri is found in fresh water and damp soil.  It causes inflammation and destruction of the brain and brain lining.  When not treated promptly, amoebic meningitis is usually fatal.  Symptoms of amoebic meningitis can occur between 1 and 7 days after infection.  They include:  intense, persistent headache . high fever. nausea and vomiting . sleepiness. sore throat . If you experience any of the symptoms above after nasal rinsing with an unsterilized solution, seek immediate medical attention.

Hazards and cautions: Nasal rinses should not be done on infants or children under 2 years old.  If your child has a stuffy nose, talk with their pediatrician about treatments and medications that can help.  Older children may be able to tolerate a sinus rinse, but talk with your healthcare professional first to make sure sinus rinses would be safe and effective for the condition it would be used for.  Additionally, make sure to use a child-sized device designed specifically for their use.  To reduce the risk of infection, the FDA recommends Trusted Source Trusted Source Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Governmental authority. Go to source that immunocompromised people speak with their doctor before using a sinus rinse device.
