We have rarely seena better carved clock in forty years of trading. Every aspect of work on the case speaks quality.We believe the case to be c.1880 but the movement may be a little older. We suspect a mastercarver wished to show his talent on a unique case and installed what was then a second hand movement later on - not sure though. The clock is currently working and striking well althoughis sold with NO guarantee as such. It has an outside countwheel, silver bell and rear brass platestamped 4106 on the left hand side; 4973 is stamped just below the countwheel and 52 at thebottom of the plate. The porcelain dial is not cracked or chipped with what we believe are original hands. The beveled glass door fits securely. There is a tiny old repair on the openlattice work just below the dial. The original rear door is missing having been replaced by a tin door some time ago. The key to this unique clock is available. It measures 13" x 5" x 10.75" high(33 cm x 12.7 x 27.3). It weighs 3 kg.
