These beautifully hand crafted old Tuareg silver earrings were bought from a trader in the Sahara Desert in Niger, West Africa. These are Tsabit earrings traditionally worn by the Ullimeden Tuareg and the end of each pyramid-shaped terminal knob is engraved with the mark of the silversmith who was commissioned to make them. Traditional Tuareg silver is a mix of silver and nickel and as old pieces we believe these to be made that way. Age has brought a beautiful patina to these earrings, the intricate detailing is quite stunning and they are, by nature of their handmade quality, quite unique pieces of African Saharan history that you have the opportunity to own forever. They measure approximately 42mm in diameter and are designed for pierced ears but in reality they are so substantial and heavy (one weighs approximately 24g and the other 20g) that they would make great pendants .
