The HAND COLORED MAP during the Civil War era was harvested from "JOHNSON's NEW ILLUSTRATED FAMILY ATLAS" and published by Johnson and Browning in 1861. Washington was a Territory at that time and area was massive extending as far ,east To The Nebraska Territory with the area currently occupied by portions of Idaho and Montana. It includes suggested route of The Pacific Railroad. It has an acid free matte, BACKING, and glass that is sealed to the backing to prevent penetration of dirt and specs between the glass and map. It is ready for the frame of your choice. After your FRAMER has constructed the frame he/she can easily remove the excess tape from the glass. The map has its characteristic strap BORDER, and is Plate # 46 of the ATLAS referenced above. This is an historic map during the Civil War and development of the Pacific Northwest.
