The map is drawn on a scale of 1:62,500 and shows wagon roads, towns, villages, natural features, and individual houses and farms. The coverage area includes Black Dome, Thomas Cole, and Black Head Mountains, three of the tallest peaks in the Catskills. Other named places and features include Hensonville, Cairo Forge, Union Society (later Brooksburg), South Westerloo, Oak Hill, Catskill Creek, Cornwallville, Windham, Greenville Center, Big Hollow, Hervey Street, Preston Hollow, Smith Corner, Batavia Kill, Acra, Norton Hill, Freehold, Medusa, East Durham, and many more. This is the July 1894 edition of the Durham quadrangle, based on surveys in 1892, published by the U.S. Geological Survey, and reprinted April 1898. The image area measures 17½" x 13" on a larger sheet, with generous margins on all sides, with contour lines at 20-foot intervals. The exact longitude and latitude parameters are 74°00' W to 74°15' W and 42°15' N to 42°39' N. Condition: It is in very good condition, bright and clean, with a few tiny dings along the edges, well outside of the image area, and no marks or writing.
