Item:126087735392c1789 Le Tambourin Tannay Antique Print Descourtis Aquatint Dogs Dancing Damaged. "Le Tambourin". A very fine late 18thC aquatint by Charles Descourtis, after Nicolas Tannay. This example has suffered some loss, as seen in my last three photos. Normally I would not offer this for sale, but it is such a lovely aquatint, with what remains in a good condition, that I am hoping that someone will be tempted. I have mounted it horizontally, which loses a bit of the image at the bottom but includes most of the crowd watching. It could also be mounted vertically which would include all of the foreground dog, but not the crowd watching. Either way, this is an image well worth framing. The scene shows a group of elegantly dressed men and women, watching a display of dancing that involves dogs dressed as humans, accompanied by a drum. A very typical 18th century French scene. Size: the mount measures approx. 39cms x 30cms. Condition: The print has loss (see last photographs), but what is remaining is not in a bad condition. It could be framed up, mounted as I have or vertically. See description. Please study the photographs. Postage: £4.75 within the UK. £12.00 to Europe, £22.00 to USA etc. I have other antique prints, books, maps etc. in my ebay shop - please see my other items.
