Seller: teutone69 (157) 100%, Location: Normal, Illinois, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 163812661352 Pre-Columbian Inca (1200-1538 AD) Conopa Alpaca-Phallus An unusual and very rare Inca (1200-1538 AD) conopa stone from southern Peru showing a simplified alpaca with a phallus head. This stone is heavily incised with horizontal and vertical narrow lines representing agricultural fields. The right side of the neck shows a tree and two tiny alpacas. The underside shows a rectangular with two crossed lines. Conopa stones were devotional objects to ask for better reproduction of the life stock to benefit the community. I have done extensive research but could not find any published example of such an alpaca-phallus combination with incised fields, tree and alpacas. The stone has a great patina and its surface is smooth with few minor scratches. The incisions have smooth borders reflecting age and years of use.See photos for details. From on old pre-1970s private collection. Size: The stone is 11 cm (4.3 in) long, 4 cm (1.6 in) wide, and 10.5 cm (4.1 in) high. Weight: 597 g (1.3 lb). Condition: antique, see photos, Material: Stone, Provenance: old private pre-1970s collection, Featured Refinements: Pre-Columbian Antiquities
