Seller: celticboe (1,170) 100%, Location: Grand Ledge, Michigan, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 264402507205 Pre-Columbian: very similar shape to a DEITY VESSEL found in LAMBAYEQUE VALLEY, Peru. This has a cone style base, and etched not painted. We had listed before and several collectors have said it's "REAL"! [We now have been told it is old and authentic, by a collector from Spain, and! worth at a minimum of $125.00 US and the round one online with painting starts about 1000.00] "Free Returns will be allowed." Comparable information. Came from the Estate of a 90 years old lady with a collection of many unusual items like this. The vessel that was found online is stated as Sicn / Lambayeque the ceramic piece is the depiction of the Sican Lord represented on this well made and elegantly proportioned polychrome spouted bottle with strap handle and pedestal base decorated with red-on-buff linear and innovative designs. {Our vessel has the same god and strap handle and is done in the same theme. Instead of polychrome, which is painted on, this is done in smokey gray clay and hand etched on all the facial features.} Instead of being rounded, it's cone shaped on top and bottom half's. Cutting a wide strip and wrapping it into a cone shape, which they repeated on the bottom half and a strip for the base. You can see where the strips joined together in a line only on one side! No a mold line! Wonderful craftsmanship. That's where the wear shows most on the base is the seem, likely from setting in dampness. This is very well worn with a few very minor body nicks. No cracks or breaks, and the top of the neck has small chipping, where the pottery is very thin and normal for an artifact that would be 1000's of years old!. The neck very delicately made! Seems unburied but has mineral deposits around the handle and else where. I know this kind of artifact would often be in a cave with mummies that would sit in cold cave dampness This is sold as found, and no other information was available, others have said its r Beal.y now We've had several collectors saying it's really authentic. I've bought and sold a number antiquities from my seller, and he has a very good eye for buying out collections with Roman and Greek glass. But I'm not an expert on this item. I found it to be authentic enough to add it to our sale. The Lord is depicted with a prominent pointed nose and stylized, outsize triangular ears decorated with circular, tassel embellished ear-ornaments. The tapered spout also functions as the Lords conical headdress and he is flanked by modeled acolytes lying on the vessels shoulder and on the strap handle. DEITY HEAD VESSEL: 750 C.E - 1250 C.E. is the time period of the other vessel! We bought it as found and leave it up to the experts who would have the clearest views as to it's age! We have no information other than, the owner was a collector! So we are offering it at an extremely reasonable starting price and Thanks for looking. Comparable: Christopher P.
