Item:113704286537Pre-Columbian Pottery Figurine Head, Chibcha Culture, from Costa Rica. Estimated age 900-1500 CE. Discovered by Boruca Indians from Caribbean side of Costa Rica, near the city of Sixaola, in Limon Province. Facial features include aquiline nose and "coffee bean" eyes. It once may have had a headdress, perhaps intentionally broken off by an invading neighbor. Broken in early antiquity at neck from a figurine or other base. Left ear missing, a more recent mar. Approximate dimensions: Height 2 3/4 inches (70mm), Width 2 1/4 inches (57mm), Depth 1 1/2 inches (40mm). Glue remnants on reverse, easily removed. Owner's family acquired this piece from discoverers many years ago. Satisfaction guaranteed.
