Seller: Top-Rated Seller classictime2015 (3,518) 100%, Location: Stonehouse, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 173521686035 This clock is a Very Rare 18th century twin fusee flame Mahogany bracket clock with a bell striking movement which is signed by the documented clockmaker B Wood of London The flame mahogany case has a bell top design with a brass handle to the centre and 4 matching acorn finials to the corners, brass bracket feet with brass fish scale original brass side frets with original silk behind them and full length front and back glazed doors The clock stands elegantly on its original brass bracket feet and displays beautifully The clock has a hinged fully glazed front and back doors with the front door having its original lock and a working key in full working order, unfortunately i do not have the key for the back door but it is open and holds shut As you can see from the many photo's of the clock it is totally untouched and just how alot of collectors wish to see them. The case does have a few minor age marks exactly how you want to see it. The figured patina and colour to the mahogany case is totally original and looks beautiful and all the brass mounts have thier original finish with a superb patina The clock features an original brass and silvered arched dial with original fine english made hands. The dial has a silent/strike selection dial to the arch and a sub calendar dial to the centre. The silvered chapter ring has engraved roman numerals, to the centre it is signed by the clock maker B Wood of London and has quality engraved decoration, around the dial their are pierced bronze spandrels to the corners The movement is a absoulutely fantastic twin fusee English movement chiming on a bell. The backplate is fully engraved with very fine scroll engravings and the movement benefits from a hourly strike on a bell. The movement is in fantastic condition and in full working order keeping good time and striking the bell when it should as can be seen in the video above The movement would have originally had a verge escapement but has had a professional conversion to anchor escapement in the victorian period because the verge escapements where not reliable or accurate. The anchor escapement was a much better time keeper and this conversion was very popular in the victorian times. You can convert them back to anchor escapement if you preferred to. The clock measures 21 inches high x 12.5 inches wide x 7.75 inches deep and looks super impressive wherever it is displayed This is a perfect investment clock and a real collecters piece, totally untouched and totally original clock apart from the anchor conversion which was common in the victorian times. Looks fantastic wherever it is displayed and a true talking point of any room.
