Seller: warksphotographer (132) 100%, Location: Bedworth, Ships to: GB, Item: 192509201433 Spaceflight Magazines of the BIS from Oct 1956 to Oct 1958, Vol 1 No1 to No 9 This is the first 9 copies of “Spaceflight” the British Interplanetary Society magazine from October 1956 until October 1958. The first issue Vol 1 No1 is dated October 1956 and is before the first Sputnik launch of October 5th 1957, when everyone thought the Americans were going to launch their 3 stage Vanguard vehicle into orbit first for the International Geophysical Year between July 1957 and December 1958. But as we all know the Russians got there first. All of these 9 magazines were priced at 3/- shillings and were printed 3 months apart (quarterly). They were edited by Patrick Moore and each copy has about 45 pages covering all aspects of Spaceflight, designing, building, science, rocketry, astronomy, engineering, chemistry and space travel. All of these were rescued from a skip many years ago when the local Astronomical Society moved home to small premises and a clear out of the library of old material and books resulted. These are in quite good condition for their age with little wear and no missing pages.Hours of fascinating reading on the early history of the space age. Condition: Used, Publication Name: Spaceflight, Subject: News & General Interest, Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom, Publication Year: 1956, Publication Month: October, Language: English, Issue Type: Quarterly
