A scarce original antique, copper-engraved map of China engraved by Richard William Seale and published in London in Churchill’s Voyages and Travels (this is from the 1744 3rd edition). The map is titled ‘A Map of China, Chinese Tartary, and Tibet; with the adjacent countries westward to the Caspian Sea’ and measures approximately 395mm x 300mm with good sized margins beyond. It has significant detail of place names and topography and covers the region from the edge of the Caspian Sea in the west to Japan in the east, including Tibet, Korea and Taiwan (Formosa).
Condition: The map is in very good condition, uncoloured with two vertical folds as published, and a small spot to the top left corner. See photographs.
