Seller: captaincreaser (106) 100%, Location: Chesterfield, Ships to: GB, US, AU, Item: 113374302221 Rickman Ranger MOT: Feb 2019 Mileage: In 2012 it was shown as 14,780 – after that the clocks were changed and a restoration undertaken. In case you don’t already know, Rickman Rangers are a kit car based around the running gear of a mk2 escort. They are fibreglass bodied sat on a galvanised chassis so no rust issues and a great cheap motoring option as classic car insurance and will be Tax and MOT exempt in 2 years and very easy to work on. The car has been extensively rebuilt by the previous owner who had built one from the kit some years ago. He did the work as a project and, once completed, showed it for 1 year and then decided to sell. It has been rewired throughout with a modern fuse box fitted, all the instruments are new, new battery, plugs, dizzy cap an rotor, all belts look new, suspension bushes, brake lines, lights, fuel tank….in fact if it looked like it needed any kind of work it seems to have been replaced or renewed – everything seems to have had some attention. It has BMW seats fitted in the front and has been recarpeted throughout. There has been a bulkhead fitted inside to separate the front from the back and there are fold away landrover seats in the rear. There are LED interior lights, sunroof and a heater (not so common in kit cars!). The engine is the 1.3 crossflow Ford unit and the Rickman is rear wheel drive with the 4 speed gear box as per the Mk2 Escort. The Weller wheels are in good condition and tyres have plenty of tread. I am reluctant to drive it at the moment as it is so clean underneath. The chassis is in fantastic condition due to it being galvanised but, as it was so clean when I got it, I spent the time and a few quid on painting it with galvanised metal primer and then black Hammerite…. and then Waxoil in the places that I thought would get the most dirt. This was probably unnecessary but certainly future-proofs the car even more. The fibreglass body looks great polished up but does have the odd mark here and there. There are some deep scratches on the bonnet and on some other panels which is a shame but the fibreglass is black throughout so they don’t show up too badly…and wont rust! There are a few holes that have been filled (where new lights have been fitted etc.) and there is some ‘spiders webbing’ in a couple of places but overall I think it looks very good for its age. I have it on classic car insurance and it will be tax and MOT exempt in 2 years time so it is an ideal second car that is super easy to work on and has loads of personality.I was in the market for a second car to run through winter and to use for DIY duties. I first saw the Rickman being showed at a local event near us and then a few weeks later I saw it on Ebay and went to view it and then couldn’t resist buying it. It turns out that it is too nice for me to use for those purposes and not as suitable for commuting as I would have liked so am going to let if go. I would love to keep the car but we are in the process of moving house and I really could do with a van or a 4x4. Please come and view the Rickman if you are interested so that you can appreciate how great it is for yourself, I’ll happily put the kettle on and let you have a good look round it. I would prefer a cash sale but may be open to a swap or PX but please don’t be offended if I say no. Thanks for looking.
