Description

This is a Ritar EV series battery. 12 Volt
45 Amp hour (Ah) Capacity

There are a lot of people looking for a high capacity cell to use with their golf caddies. Many competitors sell 28AH cells stating 36 hole capacity. This battery is 45AH (so 60% additional capacity) which will extend range even further and give more sprare overhead. If you fully deplete a cell it will die quickly. If you have reserve power it will last longer. Even though the cell has the capacity to do a couple of rounds without charging its important to fully recharge after every game.

You will need to re-use your existing wiring parts.

Check that you can fit it in your battery compartment as it is large (198x166x171 mm HxWxD). Plan drawing here [link removed by eBay]

The EV line up is a premium deep discharge / cyclic cell, perfect for use in mobility scooters and other electric vehicles, and golf caddies. We recommend using the EV range of batteries in any cyclic / deep discharge application. Please read the below specifications section for detailed information on the range and application notes. The cells are brand new , never used, fresh stock. They are imported by ourselves in large quantities which means we can realise good resale price points, and you are certain to get the most recent manufacture date codes. - Brand new rechargeable, sealed lead acid battery ready for immediate installation and use.
- 12 month RTB warranty against manufacturing defects. If you have any questions, or are unsure which cell is needed for your application, please contact us. Its helpful if you can provide details of the cell you are currently using. As you can see from our feedback comments, we prioritise customer satisfaction. All packages are sent using DPD and TNT , on a next working day, 24H delivery service. Orders before 2PM will be dispatched that day, and you should expect to receive the goods the next working day. After 2PM we try our best to dispatch orders, but cannot guarantee this. If you must have your cells urgently, let us know and we will prioritise as best we can. DPD send out emails giving ETA (estimated time of arrival) of their driver and your parcels so you can plan your day around the delivery. You only pay one shipping charge (for UK mainland orders) no matter the quantity ordered. 1x or 100x, shipping stays the same. All deliveries are insured. If there are any problems in transit we fix them, no quibbles. We ship internationally. VAT is included in the buy it now price, and if you are VAT registered you will be able to reclaim this. VAT receipts are sent out via email on request.

Specifications

What is the difference between standard float design cells, Deep discharge cells and EV cells? Firstly its worth noting that "deep discharge", "cyclic" and "deep cycle" are all terms for the same type of battery. The most common lead acid battery type is the other type, the "float" cell that is designed for irregular discharges in short bursts. For example a starter battery for a petrol engine or UPS power supply. Most of the time they are simply standing by, being trickle charged, only occasionally needing to provide energy. Over time cells have been optimised to yield higher performance in their specific applications. Unfortunately this also means that it is now possible to use a cell in a application it was not designed for, and quickly damage it. If you were to use cell designed for float applications in a cyclic or deep discharge application it would swiftly loose capacity. This is often seen when a float cell is used in a mobility scooter or golf caddy. It will work fine for the first few cycles, but lose a large amount of its overall capacity each time used, so within a few cycles it becomes useless, and will need replacing. A cyclic or deep discharge application is one that will discharge then recharge the battery in regular cycles. Examples are radios, torches, cordless tools, golf caddies and buggies, kids toys, mobile power sources, green energy solutions including PV / solar, wind, water, Recreational Vehicles, boat power, home brew power supplies, and mobility scooters. The EV series are a premium deep cycle design , using high grade super strong alloy materials in a high tech cell design. Because of this they have a higher performance, longer usable lifespan, fast recharge times and a higher maximum discharge current than none EV cells. They are designed for the most demanding application of an electric vehicle cell, and as such need to be a very high performance unit. Anything that you can use a deep cycle cell for, you can also use an EV cell for. An EV cell will always outperform a standard deep cycle cell. Because of this we can recommend using an EV battery in any cyclic deep discharge application, particularly targeting mid + high performance Mobility scooters and golf caddies which often suffer chronically from poor battery performance.
Advanced tips and technology advice An important tip is that users should not "over discharge" as this is the leading cause of premature battery failure necessitating replacement. As you can see from the above chart, a cell that is discharged 100% on each cycle lasts 1/3 of the life of a unit that is discharged to its 50% point. As soon as you notice the cell is low on energy, immediately stop using it and fully recharge. Continuing at this point will seriously degrade the cells ability to hold charge in the future. It is worth realising that recharging before this point will result in a much longer serviceable life for your cell. In order to know when your battery is discharged, the best method is to measure the voltage (DC) across the terminal. As a bullet proof cut off point, do not go below 10.5 volts. However, the lowest permissible voltage changes depending on the load the cell is placed under. C is the battery capacity in Amp Hour (Ah). If the discharge current is less than 1/5 of the battery capacity then use the 10.5V. If the discharge current is up to the battery capacity then use 10.2V. If the discharge current is double the battery capacity then use 9.6V as the 100% discharged final voltage. If for example we are using a 7.2 AH cell, then our cut off voltages would be: 10.5V for up to 1.44 Amp discharge rates, 10.2V for up to 7.2 Amp discharge rates, and 9.6V for anything over 7.2 and under 14.4 Amp discharge rates. Do not draw more than 3xC continuously, or the rated burst maximum current. Keep charged at all times. Charge after use and store in a charged state. If not used for a period, periodically check charge and top up as necessary. Modern chargers will all be fine to charge this cell. More information is on the specsheet if needed. About Ritar: Ritar are a large scale manufacturer of top quality SLA batteries. They have become respected in the industry and have supplied the US military and NASA, and have been used onboard the US Space shuttle. They are listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange and have UL, CE, ISO9001, ISO140001, OHSAS18001 certifications and comply with all international standards on cell requirements. They have a 2 million square foot production facility and large R+D workshops. They are one of the few companies who value their workforce, and whereas many cell manufacturers have had to close after recent government inspections, Ritar's practices were commended.
