A charming old book, Stanley Gibbons Ltd. 391 Strand, London

42nd Edition. 

Part One catalogues the British Empire and Part Two concentrates on Foreign Countries. 

Its a thick brick of a book. Measures 13.5 cms wide x 21 cms tall and is 5 cms thick. There are  1292 pages plus l ittle adverts dotted throughout the text and to front and back that are relevant to stamp collecting and a catalogue with tanned pages .  The book weighing 1.2 kgs

Faded blue hardboards, cloth bound, faded spine, faded gilt title to front and spine, rubbed cloth edges, spine frayed to ends, cloth split to back of spine top.  Spotted and age toned page block. The front board has cracked binding, the board is slack with webbing visible but still attached and the contents attached ,  the book can still be handled. I ndex and introduction to front .  Page 11/ 12 have come loose over time, although loose with knicked edges the page has been saved and tucked in between pages. Some further cracking to binding later in book due to it being a heavy book from handling over time.  Illustrated in black and white throughout with stamps of the world examples. T he pages are yellowed pages as expected with a v intage book with greyed edges and tanning with spotting he re and there. The odd spot or faint blemish here and there and freckling to page edges, see photos. Some page corners creased which have smoothed out again over time, some corner tips knicked chipped or lost as expected for age. Back endpapers a little greyed to edges from age. Interesting book and perfect for reference or reading.
