Item:164083005243This is a lovely vintage grandfather clock made by the renowned firm James Stewart of Armagh in Northern Ireland. It has an arched brass dial with decorative brass cherub spandrels and a Tempus Fugit plaque in the arch, the chapter ring is engraved and silvered with roman numerals .There is also engraving to the centre of the dial along with the makers name. The movement is a good quality German Urgos 8 day Westminster chime which is driven by three brass cased weights and has a chime silent lever if you do not want the chimes running. The chimes have a lovely melodic tone and the movement is working correctly. The movement has a self adjusting mechanism so it is ready to go wherever you place it, no fiddly setting up . The mahogany case stands 6 feet 10 inches to the top of the middle solid brass finial. 17 inches wide at the base and approx 10 inches deep. There are reeded columns to the sides with brass capitals and boxwood inlay to the base, the sides of the top have silk lined sound outlets so you can get the full benefit of the chimes There are one or two scuffs on the case but nothing that won`t polish out quite easily. It is a good looking tall clock in good condition , Any questions please ask and thanks for looking.
