The case front is in Mahogany with blind fretwork panels and carved relief, and is in good original condition. The shaped case door with a moulded edge, complete with the brass strap hinges and lock without its key. The door is flanked by reeded columns at each side standing on small blind fretwork stands, and with a further intricate blind fretwork panel above the door. The base is of simple form with a mahogany panel, and the clock stands on its plinth at just under 81 inches in total height to the top of the finial, a lovely petite longcase clock. The hood with its swan neck pediment, the horns being finished with turned wooden paterae and with the small brass ball and eagle finial to the centre. The glazed hood door is flanked by lovely turned pillars with carved bulbous decoration to the bases, very unusual and high quality. The sides of the hood with fretwork panels backed in a red silk or similar material, the right side one with a small amount of damage but still very presentable and not detrimental. The arched dial is in lovely condition with fruit and floral scenes and a superbly painted scene to the top arch. The chapter ring having hours represented by elegant Numerals, with an outer minute ring, the centre of the dial also having the working seconds dial and calendar aperture above the makers very elaborate signature. The dial is finished with its pair of winding holes and full set of chased brass hands, all quite lovely. The good quality 4 pillar rack and snail striking, 8 day duration movement is in original condition and in good working order, striking out the hours on a single bell. The clock is set up and keeping excellent time, as with all antique clocks it would benefit from a service at some time in the future. The clock comes complete with it's original old weights and pendulum, along with a winding key.Dimensions - 80 1/2 inches high x 20 inches wide at the plinth and also the hood base Faults; There are some minor chips and marks, the bottom left corner of the door is twisted but held flat with a locking catch. There is packing beneath the seatboard so the dial and movement may be associated to this case however everything fits well, there is a small crack to the corner of the hood door glass which looks historic. Overall a lovely Georgian longcase clock in good working order, ready to go straight into your home.
