Item:254404346072Superb example of a very early one piece carriage clock signed LEROY A PARIS and number 3 engraved on the movement. The dial is also signed the same. This clock predates 1845 when the business was sold and traded thereafter as Leroy & Cie. The case is of the highest quality engraved and gilded brass and deep bevelled glass. The clock strikes the hours and half hour on a bell by count-wheel. The clock has its original engraved lever escapement which may be English. The movement has been overhauled and the clock runs and strikes as it should. In terms of condition, there is a small hairline crack on the dial from 6 to 8. This shows more in the photos and can barely be seen from more than three feet away. There is also a minor scratch on the front glass. There is a small hinge repair on the rear door and a tiny bit of corrosion in that corner (only noticeable when the door is open). Very minor chips to some glass and these are hardly noticeable. Our repairer has said the clock runs slow at the center of regulation, but keeps good time where the regulator is set in the photos. This could be corrected by a watchmaker, but is not necessary. The clock comes with the correct key as in the photo. The clock weighs over 2 lbs (1Kg) and is 5" (130mm) tall, handle down. The clock will be shipped double boxed Priority mail.
