Seller: toizalb (459) 100%, Location: Buckingham, Ships to: Free Local Pickup, Item: 124181375905 Hello! Here for sale is a really sweet little grandmother clock from the 1920's / 30's. The case is made in the style of Jacobean furniture and is of solid oak construction. There is no woodworm. Perfect condition apart from a thin perpendicular crack in the base. I mention this in order to be perfectly honest, but in fact it doesn't detract from the lovely appearance. The pictures make the finish look 'flat', but in fact ,having given it a wax polish it gleams nicely. The hood slides forward and off to reveal the movement. It has an opening door for access to the hands. There is also an opening door in the trunk for access to the pendulum. Both of these doors have their original working locks and keys. The hood has nice barleytwist pillars and the trunk and base have attractive mouldings all of which you can see in the pictures. The clock is approx. 5ft.6ins. high, 15 ins wide (at the top) and 10ins deep (at the top) The movement runs for a week on one wind and as it does so, it plays Westminster chimes on the quarter hours. Just like Big Ben in London. Additionally it strikes the appropriate number of times on the hour. The movement is fronted by a substantial brass dial with separately mounted cast brass corner pieces (spandrels). The detail on the dial is engraved and black wax filled. Not just printed on like some cheaper examples. The dial has a matted centre. The hands are original. The clock is working perfectly and chiming & striking in the correct sequence. The clock has it's winding key. That's it I think but if you have any questions I will answer them promptly and honestly.(Please see my 100% positive feedback) For those unfamiliar with this type of clock, I will deliver & set up in your home for the price of diesel used, if not too far. Please ask. Thank you for looking. P.S. There is NO RESERVE.PPS.,You are welcome to view. Just call 01296 714575.
