The SP and SPWA ranges are Swift-Pyser imports of high quality Japanese binoculars of the late 1980s for the UK market. All are of the Audubon HR/5, Pattern, having the same eyepiece bridge with the large diameter, 5 element eyepiece. These well engineered models have the same Japanese J-B56 manufactures code, (Hiyoshi Kogaku Co. Ltd.). All the SP range have the Swift straw coloured, fully coated optics.
The Swift SP 8x40 binoculars for auction are in excellent condition. Externally they look almost new with smooth focusing. All optical surfaces are unblemished. There is a tiny speck on the inside surface of the front left lens otherwise , dust free internally, clean and clear, and well collimated. They have a 7.5 optical field of view, 131m at 1000m (393ft at 1000ft) making them reasonably wide angle. The view is sharp and bright.
These come with the high quality case common with this rangein “as new” condition.
