Seller: love-the-past (1,451) 99.2%, Location: LINCOLN, Ships to: Free Local Pickup, Item: 322327295167 Condition: Superb and 'As found.', Original/Reproduction: Original, Material: Leather, Details: In Superb 'As found' condition, this remarkable, unusual and high quality military trunk was used for intercontinental currency movement and dates from around the turn of the century. It has a connection to the Bromhead military family, the most prominent of which was Lt Gonville Bromhead VC, the battle of Rorkes Drift, Natal, 1879, his character played by Michael Caine in the movie 'Zulu'. Measuring 92 cm in length, 54 depth and 36 high it has a handle to one end and wheels underneath (which may require freeing off), an airtight leather seal, is lead lined and has steel reinforced corners. The lid carries various hand painted wording....and many labels. A very, very, very rare item. There were signs of old woodworm but I take no chances, and like all wooden items of a certain age they are treated appropriately to be sure. Wonderful, museum quality. About us....
