Samuel Smith was working in Newington Causeway-1857-81 and was the founder of Smiths clocks which later became a household name-as Smiths, Smiths Enfield, Smiths Instruments. This clock is around 27 inches overall. The clock has been professionally overhauled by craftsmen in our own workshops - a very rare clock with good provenance. The carved section around the dial is one piece and the rear box,flat shelf and lower carving fix to the wall the rest secures with wooden pegs as usual with dial clocks. The brass bezel is cast and has a convex glass - the dial is around 12 inches.This is a lovely heavy substantial clock.
