Seller: rockerwriter (2,091) 100%, Location: Cheltenham, Ships to: Free Local Pickup, Item: 153578446961 This clock runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and half hour on a deeply resonant spiral gong. In common with all French clocks which have the bullet proof Comtoise movement, it strikes a second time around 2 minutes past the hour. The softly glowing black ebonised frame (and case) is completely intact. The unusually patterned mother-of-pearl surround is completely intact. The painted glass dial, also unusual - normally metal, is completely intact. And the matching hands are an unusually pleasing design for this genre of clock. The frame hinges up and props open for winding (correct bow key included). I bought this clock in Seville in S. Spain, from a Danish family and the label on the back is in Danish. Not sure what it refers to… Vineyard clocks were produced and sold all over France from around 1880 right up to the start of WW1. Height is 60 cm, width 50 cm and it stands 15 cm off the wall. I’ve started the bidding at well below its value and there is NO RESERVE. I’ve posted and received many Vineyard clocks and almost always the glass gets broken in transit. So this is for collection only from leafy Cheltenham. Or I can deliver within a 50 mile radius for 30p per mile for petrol. So a 100 mile round trip would add £30 to the final cost. I would strongly prefer payment by cash on collection / delivery, cheque or bank transfer. I have more clocks listed. Please click on 'see other items' top right of this page. Age: Antique, Pre-1900, Clock Type: Wall Clock, Style/ Origin/ Theme: French, Features: 8-Day
