Velcro® Brand Pressure Sensitive PS14 Hook and Loop fastening

**Please Note - You will receive EITHER the hook OR loop OR both Velcro elements depending on the option you selected at the point of order

**This item is a bespoke cut length and is not supplied on a reel or in retail packaging

• VELCRO® brand stick-on hook (rough to touch) and loop (soft to touch) tape with a rubber resin adhesive to the rear, ideal for most surfaces, except PVC and anything containing plasticizers.

• Use VELCRO® Brand Stick On Tape as a quick and easy alternative to nails, screws and glue. This hook and loop tape can hold up to 300g per 20mm x 20mm piece, making it perfect for securing items in place around the home, school or workplace. Cut it to size, then make sure both surfaces are clean and dry before use. Allow at least 10 minutes for the adhesive to set before use, full adhesion at 24 hours after install.

• Pressure sensitive adhesives are popular because of their ease of application - simply remove the release liner and press the tape in place.

General Recommendations    

• Preparation of the VELCRO® Brand Tapes - Pointed corners on VELCRO® Brand Hook and Loop Tapes are sometimes detrimental to a good bond. We recommend nipping or rounding each corner of the VELCRO® Brand Tape to eliminate this vulnerable area. 

• Environmental conditions - Your work area must be clean and free from dirt and dust in the air. It is also essential to have a well ventilated area when using solvent activated adhesives. Ideal room temperatures should be 18 ºC to 20 ºC, and relative humidity 40% to 60% (the lower the humidity, the better the bond). If the adhesive is applied below the recommended application temperatures, it loses tack. Once adhesive or self-adhesive tape is applied, press it firmly into contact with the substrate to smooth tape and to avoid air bubbles. 

• Surface preparation - It is mandatory that all surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and dried. All cleaning agents should be tested prior to use to ensure cleaning agent will have no adverse effects on the substrate. 

• Porous substrate - This type of surface is one that requires a primer or sealer to provide a suitable bonding area. This could consist of a coating or a liquid adhesive. Allow to dry prior to final adhesive procedure. 

• Non-porous substrate - This would be suitable for solvent activation of a VELCRO® Brand pre-coated adhesive backing tape. Better adhesion can be obtained when used with a liquid adhesive. 

• Smooth surfaces - Superior bonding can be achieved by cleaning or roughing up a smooth surface. 

• Limitations - Not recommended for use in water or on plastics with high concentrations of plasticizers. Adhesives are not washable or dry cleanable. 

• Suitability - Before using adhesives for production user should test the adhesive to determine the suitability of the product for the intended use

Unless you order and collect the goods from our trade counter, we will deliver them in accordance with your order. Where relevant, goods must be examined and signed for upon receipt. Your signature confirms that the goods have been received in perfect condition. You may cancel your order giving us notice of cancellation within 14 days of the date of delivery to you or collection from our Trade Counter. If you are cancelling because of any problem with the goods, please notify us of the problem as soon as you are aware

On cancellation for whatever reason, you must return the goods to us at your cost, unless we agree that you may dispose of them, in which case please comply with the manufacturer`s instructions before disposing of hazardous goods. Where the goods are being returned because they are faulty, or incorrect goods, a replacement order will be dispatched to you as a priority on receipt of the returned goods

Having recently purchased a product that I no longer require and is "unused" Can I return it back to you and how do I go about this? 

We do accept goods back for return subject to being a standard stock item to CMW Ltd. Please contact us by eBay message giving full details of the reason for return and raise a return with eBay. Once we received the returned goods, a replacement order or refund, depending on your best option will be processed as a priority.

My order has not arrived by the scheduled / expected date or time

On rare occasions, couriers can take longer to deliver than we might like. If your order has not arrived within a reasonable timeframe for the delivery service you selected, please get in touch with an eBay message in the first instance to allow us to look into the delay.

Please do remember that bank holidays and weekends can sometimes impact delivery timescales

Can I purchase goods online and then collect from your trade counter?

You can collect goods from either our Bedford or Guildford warehouses which are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am until 5.15pm. If this is an option you would like to take advantage of, please get in touch to make arrangements

Who Invented Velcro and When

As with many of histories inventions, the creation of VELCRO® Brand was stumbled across unintentionally by a Swiss engineer named George de Mestral. After talking his dog for a walk one day, Mestral noticed a large number of burrs clinging to its fur. As he tried to remove them from his dog, he met with some substantial resistance.

Why is Velcro called Velcro?

Mestral derived the name VELCRO® from the French words velours (loop) and crochet (hook), and this is now the brand name and trademark of the hook and loop tape manufactured by Velcro Companies, rather than the name of the product itself.  

When was VELCRO® Brand Patented
In 1955 Mestral applied for and received a patent for his product and named his company Velcro. Velcro is not the actual name for the hook and loop fasteners that we use today; it is the trademark of Mestral's company, and not all the fasteners are from the original Velcro brand.
