Stunning antique cobalt blue vase with white and black enamel overlay from around 1905-1910 the wonderful era of Josef Hoffman and Koloman Moser
Design reminds strongly the one of Otto Prutscher, prominent member of the Wiener Werkstatte* with its checkered geometric enamel decoration, which he used a lot in his early designing years but I let you be the judge, this is strictly my opinion
*The Wiener Werkstätte ( Vienna Workshop ) was established in Vienna, Austria in 1903 by the graphic designer and painter Koloman Moser , the architect Josef Hoffman and the patron Fritz Waerndorfer and it represented a productive association . Architects, artists, designers and artisans were involved, working in ceramics, fashion, silver, furniture and the graphic arts. It is regarded as a pioneer of modern design
Very strong creative message of the artist through the colours with using black and white enamel on cobalt blue background and the very unusual shape
Marked on the underside with white enamel 108
Excellent condition, a bit of fleabites and mini micro chips on the opening, not really noticeable or disturbing
Height 16 cm
