I bought this ornament around 35 years ago - the shop assistant told me it dated from the first half of the 20th century.  It is pretty much identical to a design produced by the famous WMF company in Germany but I don't think it's an original WMF piece as it has no markings or maker's stamps.  It is however a beautiful and incredibly detailed reproduction.  It depicts a winged fairy holding a tiny dove, with lily pads forming the tray. The overall height from the base to the top of the fairy's head is just over 7.5 inches and the overall width between the outside edges of the lily pads is approximately 11 inches.  I am not sure what metal it is, but it looks like either pewter or Britannia - it polishes to a soft shine.  This is a heavy piece, weighing just over 2.5 kg!
