I am offering a lovely Aynsley “Orchard Gold” Demitasse cup & saucer set. The cup and saucer are both signed by N. Brunt. Nancy Brunt was a famous artist who worked at the Aynsley factory from 1935-75, and helped to create the famous "Gold Orchard." The transfer and gold wash inside the cup and in the centre of the saucer were handmade, and I believe there were also a lot of handpainting enhanced details throughout the decoration. This set is almost a hundred years old and dates back to the 1930s. It's normal for there to be slight scratches due to its age. The gold colour may also look slightly tarnished due to salt or grease oxidation over time. Please look closely at the pictures that I uploaded for details.
The cup handle has a small, unglazed circle inside, which could result from a spot of grease where the glazing was applied. The grease resistance caused a missing glazing spot. Although it may be considered a defect nowadays, it's unclear whether it was a defect back when it was made.
I’ve also recorded a video of the set to give you a complete understanding of its condition. If you're interested in viewing it, please leave a message and I’ll try to send it.
Other than the conditions mentioned above, this duo is in very good vintage condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs. The cup has a diameter of 6.9cm and a height of 5.5cm, saucer's diameter is 12.2cm.
Happy Bidding!
