A vintage solid & very heavy, brass table lamp.  It has a comparatively narrow base - so ideal for a reading lamp, coffee table lamp or bedside lamp - but because it is heavy (2lb 13oz or, 1287 grams!) it is unlikely to tip over.This is likely to be a 'one-off' as I cannot see this amount of brass being viable for a mass produced item - even in it's time-frame - which I think would be post 1945 - circa 1965. It seems to me the type of item that engineers of the RAF, or Royal Navy used to produce in their spare time when posted abroad - then bring them home on leave for gifts - It's just a feeling and I can't prove it, but that's my 'gut' reaction The base is around 4 inches in diameter and with the light fitting it is 12 7/8ths inches tall I have only given it a cursory clean to photograph it - it needs a bit of 'elbow grease' and it will be a smart thing.
